COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP and CEAP-SB)

On June 1, 2020, the Government of Ontario confirmed that it is making funding available for the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program, (CEAP), and the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business (CEAP-SB) to support customers struggling to pay their energy bills as a result of the COVID-19 emergency.

CEAP provides a one time, on-bill credit to eligible residential electricity customers to help them catch up on their energy bills and resume regular payments. The program will be delivered by electricity distributors in accordance with rules laid out by the Ontario Energy Board.

Orillia Power began accepting applications for CEAP on July 13, 2020 and for CEAP-SB on August 31, 2020.

SCAM ALERT: We are aware that some consumers are receiving calls telling them that a home inspection is required in order to receive the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP). This is not true. A home visit is not required to qualify for CEAP.

In addition, Orillia Power does not phone consumers offering rebates nor do we ever schedule home visits.
